About
Baptism celebrates God's loving embrace and welcomes new members of His Church into the fullness of life with Christ. The majority of parishioners baptized at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church are infants and young children.
Baptismal ceremonies are typically held on the first and third Sundays of the month at 9:30 AM in the main church.
Required Baptism Class At least one parent is typically required to attend a 90-minute preparation class before their first child is baptized at Nativity. Godparents are also welcome to attend. The baptism class requirement must be completed prior to requesting a date for baptism.
Baptism classes are typically held on the fourth Sunday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the main Church. Class is not held in December.
Choosing Godparents Parents must choose at least one Godparent, though; there may be two, one of each gender. At least one Godparent must be a practicing Catholic, at least 16 years of age and confirmed in the Catholic Church. A person of another Christian faith may stand as a witness.
Documentation Parents must provide a photocopy of the child's birth certificate prior to baptism.
Additional Notes
There are typically no baptisms celebrated the 2nd weekend in September.
